Graham 34-year-old Graham shared an Instagram Story featuring an image of her teeth showing one of her front teeth that is noticeably smaller than the others. The caption reads “Isaac head hit me, and my tooth broke off.” (Graham’s child Isaac is nearly two years older.) She joked, “Happy Hump Day!”
Although Graham did not provide any specifics but it seems she has veneers which are popular with celebs as well as the average person. Butwhat exactly are veneers, and how do they weigh more in comparison to natural teeth? Here’s everything you must know about them.
What are veneers exactly?
Based on the American Dental Association, veneers are thin, custom-made , shells comprised of tooth-colored substances designed be used to protect the front of the teeth (ADA). Veneers are typically made in a dental laboratory by dentists with the help of a model created to your dentist.

Wolff, DDS Dean of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and Dentistry, tells Health, “Veneers are an amazing way of altering the appearance of the teeth.” Materials made of resin or porcelain can be used to construct veneers, but it is porcelain that’s the most widely used in the opinion of Dr. Wolff.

It’s not easy to determine the amount of people who have veneers, but they’re much more often than you think. While many celebs and Instagram influencers wear veneers but the dentist Dr. Wolff thinks that average people could also benefit from these procedures.
What’s the procedure to attach veneers?

Lowenberg explains, “You leave having temporary porcelain veneers.” Dr. Lowenberg continues, “The ceramist then copies the design of the grin and creates the porcelain veneers.”
The temporary veneers are removed in the next appointment and the custom-made veneers are then bonded on the tooth. “Both appointments are carried out using local anaesthetics,” says Dr. Lowenberg. “After the procedure it is recommended that the patient come back a week later to repair the bite or the occlusion of their new tooth,” says the dentist.
Do you require additional precautions when performing work with veneers?
As per the American Dental Association, consumers must avoid certain food items and drinks that may affect the appearance of veneers or cause them to discolor such as tea, coffee, or red wine. Veneers also have the potential to break or crack, so eating tough or brittle food items is not recommended in the opinion of Dr. Wolff.
The veneer procedure is used by people due to a variety of reasons.
It’s a matter of debate. Veneers can enhance the appearance of chipped, discoloured or decaying teeth. “Sometimes the appearance of the teeth as well as the aesthetics of the teeth are such that there is no solution,” Dr. Wolff says. “A porcelain veneer is a way to cover teeth without doing any significant damage to it.”
